On the other side of Sabah, about 300km norh west of Kota Kinabalu in the South China Sea, is another dive favourite - Layang Layang. It is a remote narrow strip of man-made island with its own air-strip, a huge circular lagoon, with dramatic walls plunging to 2,000m deep.
Far from any developed area, itis a pristine reef system with walls, coral gardens and inner-lagoon critter dives. Guests are flown in by the resort from Kota Kinabalu in small planes.
Best Season : May to October.
Visibility : Up to 30m in the best season, 10m otherwise.
