Merdeka Conservation Dive (MCD)

Taking into consideration the importance of
awareness on conservation, preservation and
proper care of coral reefs to beautify the
surrounding shore and marine life and to
promote the tourism industry in Malaysia, the
organizers have brainstormed for the best possible
option to ensure the success of 'MERDEKA
CONSERVATION DIVE'.

Ed Scuba as a organizer has creating awareness to the public
for the importance of conservation and the
breeding of coral reefs. This awareness will be
enable the public to recognize the coral reefs
as one of the most valuable asset that is priceless
to our marine environment, thus preventing the
reefs from extinction.

To achieve these objectives, few activities will be
implemented:

i. Beach and underwater cleanups will be
highlighted as one of Ecotourism destination;
ii. Collaboration with Dorken Reef Corporation to
plant artificial reefs as breeding sites; and
iii. Preservation works on artificial reefs to enable
coral reefs to breed after the end of the monsoon
seasoon.

'MERDEKA CONSERVATION DIVE' will be held
at Redang Mutiara Resort, Kg Telok Kalong, Pulau
Redang, Terengganu on 14th August 2009.

The above venue is chosen based on:
i. Redang Mutiara Resort at Kg Telok Kalong is a
newly opened destination that could be highlighted
